Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) is nowadays deemed not to be new technology because in Son La Hydropower Site (2400MW), Song Da 5’s staff and worker had been accessed to such modern technology which applied to the project and that Song Da 5 succeeded in production of RCC grout which met the quality requirements in accordance with the international standard under the strict supervision of many local and international consulting and equipment experts of the Employer. The Son La Dam is built by a huge RCC volume, 2.8 million m3 approximately, in fact, the production progress is ahead of the planned schedule.
While in Lai Chau Hydropower Site, RCC technology is also applied for this project with RCC quantity of 2.2 million m3 which has been planned to manufactured and placed by equipment used for construction in Sơn La Dam Site whose weight is over 34.000 tons and over 21 million USD worth. After successful completion of Song La Hydropower Plant, Song Da 5’s leader promptly directed to remove such equipment into part by part in scientifically manner, split into each block in accordance with type of electronic equipment. All important parts shall be packed and stored into container which have been prepared in advance and then implementing thermal maintenance for all required equipment by drying or cooling.
Due to foreseeing the mission and work which might be assigned to Song Da 5 in near future, although Song Da 5 have must bear a large amount of equipment maintenance expense during 02 years, they also stand his ground and in 2012, such equipment weighting over 34.000 ton had been mobilized to Lai Chau Dam Site. However, a lot of equipment were in damaged condition that was several cracks existed on 1000 m conveyor or its roller was broken, even lack of conveyor screw or rust silo…Song Da 5 engineers had to inspect and repair such damaged parts or replace them for safety operation in the future.
Mr. Loi – Deputy General Director of Song Da 5 JSC said: “That positioning by mark, numbering equipment and packing them into block facilitate installation work. Moreover, electronic equipment and tank shall be made ultrasonic to ensure safety condition before putting into operation.
Mr. Do Duc Hanh – Director of Site Executive Board told that in Lai Chau Dam Site, all equipment erection, maintenance, repair, replacing had been made by Song Da 5 workers which not only helps decrease costs but also create a big gap of workmanship. Because at Son La Hydropower Project, all equipment assembly and erection work and commissioning had been implemented under the support and direction of consulting experts.
Moreover, Song Da 5 also innovate the equipment control system and monitoring in cabin during operation by camera which facilitate management work and cut off number of manpower.
According to Director of Song Da 5.08’s speech, installation of 820m conveyor from RCC Batching Plant to Dam face is remarkable story. Because geographic and topographic condition is not flat and even, 13 pillars with different height which the highest pillar is 37m and lowest one is 10m and hundreds of conveyor belt had been fabricated and replaced by Song Da 5.
According to the schedule approved by the State Steering Committee and Project Management Board, this work item should have to be completed within 135 days. Song Da 5 JSC was determined to continue to work in the last Tet holiday without any interruption and mobilized all necessary equipment and construction machineries and prepare reasonable organization method…Only wwithin 45 days, all conveyor had been completed and put into operation. Thanks to adoption of such conveyor system, RCC placement on Dam had been implement 02 months earlier than expected, prevent from rainy season and minimize loss and decrease cost of hundred million VND.
It’s undoubtful that Song Da 5’s staff had been entirely expertise in installation and operation of RCC production. In Lai Chau Dam site, Song Da 5 invested 01 crushing plant with the capacity of 250.000 m3 which had activated to supply supplementary aggregate source for RCC production work. Moreover, 01 crushing plant with the capacity of 90.000 m3 had been installed for CVC placement work and 01 batching plant with cooling system (capacity 120 m3/h) had also been mobilized to be actively supply CVC for other Contractors who were employed for the construction of Powerhouse surrounding structure.
